The development of petrochemical industry has provided abundant and cheap raw materials for the production of petroleum resin. Therefore, the production of petroleum resin in some petrochemical developed countries has developed rapidly.

1.2 Production status of domestic c9 petroleum resin

The development of C9 petroleum resin in my country started late, but the progress is relatively fast. In recent years, Shanghai Petrochemical Corporation and Exxon Corporation, Yangzi Petrochemical Industrial Corporation and Eastman Corporation of the United States have jointly constructed 250,000 tons/year and 180,000 tons respectively. The completion and commissioning of the C5 petroleum resin plant in /year opened a brand new situation for the development of domestic petroleum resin.

At present, there are about 50 petroleum resin manufacturers in my country, with a total production capacity of more than 2 million tons per year. They can produce C5 resin, C9 resin, C5/C9 copolymer resin, and hydrogenated resin. The production equipment is mainly C9 petroleum resin. 70% of production capacity. C5 petroleum resin accounts for 30%. Most of the devices have small production scales, single varieties, and low product quality, especially the main quality indicators such as product color and softening point are unstable, and the application range is greatly restricted.

1.3 Progress in C9 petroleum resin preparation technology

1.3.1 The preparation process of C9 petroleum resin is as follows: the raw material is pretreated to remove (di)cyclopentadiene and isoprene, and a raw material with a mass fraction of piperylene of more than 50% is obtained, and then it is added and diluted under the protection of nitrogen. Add aromatic hydrocarbons, and then add catalyst AlCl3. Maintain the temperature at 25, gradually add concentrated piperylene and comonomers, control the feeding rate so that the reaction temperature does not exceed 40, and the solid content in the reactor is 45% ~ 50%, and the polymerization time It is 1~2h. The product after the polymerization is sent to the alkali washing tower, the top of the tower is the polymerization liquid with the catalyst removed, and the polymerization liquid is sent to the water washing tower to remove the alkali liquid and residual catalyst in the polymerization liquid, and the top of the water tower is sent to the stripping tower and the vacuum distillation tower. , Steam diluent, unpolymerized components and oligomers to obtain high molecular weight solid petroleum lining grease.

Choosing different comonomers can improve the performance of the resin and obtain different special resins. For example, copolymerization with ??-methyl styrene can improve the bonding performance of the resin; copolymerization with isobutylene can obtain a resin with a narrow relative molecular weight distribution; copolymerization with cyclopentene can obtain a resin with a high softening point. Commonly used comonomers include maleic anhydride, terpenes, and aromatic compounds.
