Petroleum resin is a kind of resin with low molecular weight. The molecular weight is generally lower than 2000. It has thermal ductility and can dissolve solvents, especially crude oil-based organic solvents. It has good compatibility with other resins. Its key performance parameters include softening point, color, unsaturation, acid value, saponification value, relative density and so on. Softening point is the most important characteristic of petroleum resin. It means that the strength, brittleness and viscosity of petroleum resin are different depending on the main purpose of petroleum resin, and the required softening point is also different. Under normal conditions, the softening point of petroleum resin used in the industrial production of vulcanized rubber is 70℃~1000℃, and the softening point of petroleum resin used in the industrial production of paint and paint is 100℃~1200℃. Color is another key characteristic index value of petroleum resin.
